Zakk Wylde, bearded frontman of Black Label Society and owner of Wylde Audio, is down to create the next line of Dimebag Darrell signature guitars. Wylde said in an interview with Wall Of Sound that he'd only do it if he could work with Darrell's widow Rita Haney on the line and do "whatever she wanted to do." Wylde also brings up the news from last year about the issues between Haney and Dean Guitars after Haney wanted to pull Dimebag's name from the company.
Wylde has been building guitars under the name Wylde Audio (and through Schecter Guitars) since 2014.
"I remember when that [news] first came out, whenever I saw that, but I didn't know, I didn't know the whole skinny on that. But I mean, it's just like, Yeah, cuz I mean, Dime's always been associated with them. I mean, actually, he brought them back into business when they were out of business; he brought them back into business just because of his popularity. And him playing that guitar. But uh, no, you know, if any, if we were to ever do something like that, you know, obviously we talk with Rita and whatever she wanted to do, you know…"
Wall Of Sound points out that Dean Guitars recently advertised the "last ever" Dimebag signature guitars on their Australian page, hinting that maybe Haney has successfully ended their relationship?
