Greyhawk bassist Darin Wall stopped a shooting before it even began during a September 5 a show at The Shredder in Boise, ID. Wall spotted would-be shooter Ethan Byrd making "finger gun" motions at people in the crowd, and eventually tried to keep Byrd outside the venue with the help of a second member from another band. Byrd left and returned with a gun, at which point Wall tackled Byrd and was unfortunately shot in the leg. Byrd was arrested by Boise Police and Wall spent some time at home recovering with the bullet still in his leg.
Greyhawk played their first show back since the shooting on September 26 at El Corazon in Seattle, WA. The only difference between then and now is that Wall is performing sitting down, using the exact same throne Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl used when he broke his foot in 2015.
"There are three people who have used it," said Wall in an interview with King 5. "There's Dave Grohl, Axl Rose in Guns N' Roses, and me."
Wall added that he initially made a comment about using Grohl's throne to perform on social media. Foo Fighters' management saw the comment, and Grohl himself called Wall offering the throne.
"He called me from the MTV VMA awards and [Grohl] said I'll ship that throne up to you at my expense," said Wall.
Anyway, go listen to Greyhawk on Bandcamp here. Wall deserves your support.
