Going once, going twice… Sold to the man in the denim jacket with patches!
That's right, folks, get ready for another auction, as Backstage Auctions has announced a new collection: the Vinnie Paul Estate Auction, which is set to feature an extensive haul of outstanding collectibles, mementos, and personal items from the late Pantera, Hellyeah and Damageplan drummer.
The entire haul is the ultimate tribute to of one of metal's finest drummers, and someone who at heart was a collector himself. Several drum kits that Paul took on tour throughout his career, including the very last kit he used live, a collection of guitars—including a vintage Dimebag Darrell Washburn, custom slot machines, industry awards, clothing, artwork, autographed items, home furnishings, photos, posters, and anything else you could ever imagine crossing Vinnie's path at one point or another can be found and had in this robust collection.
Paul himself was also a huge sports fan, and had acquired through the years a massive collection of sports memorabilia from his favorite hometown teams: Dallas Stars, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. The collection is said to include another array of autographed sports collectibles, seats from the original Dallas Cowboys stadium, hockey sticks, helmets, and many the jerseys Paul was always so fond of wearing.
About the collection, Backstage Auctions founder Jacques Van Gool commented, "It is the ultimate Vinnie Paul celebration… The collection is a true testament to Vinnie's legacy and shows his passion for music, sports and living life to the fullest."
Van Gool continued, "Vinnie Paul is one of the most prolific and quintessential drummers in metal history. Pantera was — and still is — a torch-bearing giant with an unparalleled footprint in the broad universe of everything hard and heavy, opening the doors for generations of headbanging, axe-wielding and skin-pounding musicians. They have been rightfully credited as the inventors of groove metal, with Vinnie Paul as the master bricklayer. His drumming, and overall contribution to the genre, has left a lasting mark and we are proud and extremely honored to have been selected by the Vinnie Paul estate to offer his massive collection of memorabilia to his dedicated worldwide legion of fans."
The auction bidding will launch on May 26 and will close on June 5. You can get the full scoop from Backstage Auctions here.
