Pam & Tommy is the new Hulu series starring Sebastian Stan, Lily James, and Seth Rogen that tells the story of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and actress and model Pamela Anderson's famous sex tape. Perhaps more importantly though is the fact that Lee has a full-on conversation with his penis in the show.
According to writer Robert Siegel, Lee actually discusses having a real conversation with his own penis in the book Tommyland, and they just based it on that.
"As much as I'd like to take credit for that, I was simply adapting a chapter from [Lee's] memoir," said Siegel in an interview with Variety. "I think it might be a first [for television]. There was gentle pushback, because you've got to push back a little when a talking penis is presented to you. But Hulu was extremely supportive."
The penis is voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, in case you were wondering.
Set in the Wild West early days of the Internet, Pam & Tommy is based on the incredible true story of the Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) sex tape. Stolen from the couple's home by a disgruntled contractor (Seth Rogen), the video went from underground bootleg-VHS curiosity to full-blown global sensation when it hit the Web in 1997. A love story, crime caper and cautionary tale rolled into one, the eight-part original limited series explores the intersection of privacy, technology and celebrity, tracing the origins of our current Reality TV Era to a stolen tape seen by millions but meant to have an audience of just two.
Pam & Tommy premieres February 2.
