The biggest military mobilization in Europe since World War II is currently taking place in Ukraine. It is a literal shit pinata and our hearts go out to the citizens of Ukraine. They obviously need all the help they can get. As a new addition to the successful Metallica themed Dealing Out The Agony releases, Third World Posse artist Felipe Mora has put paint to paper to brew up a small collection of original oil paintings to help raise some funds.
Entitled Thrashing 4 Ukraine, Mora takes up the challenge of remaking 4 classic thrash album covers from some of the best in the genre: Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax & Sepultura. This collection includes 4 high quality digital scans of the following thrash classics:
Megadeth – Killing Is My Business
The explosive debut from Mustaine & co. Mora’s work features the sadistic Vic Rattlehead dishing out his own brand of calculated cruelty before rigor mortis sets in.
Slayer – Show No Mercy
Breaking out of the boundaries of Hell – Mora’s take on Slayer's debut release is (like the music itself) a showcase of absolute brutality. Witness the wrath of the Tormentor in graphic detail.
Anthrax – Among the Living
While Anthrax’s third album contains some of the best tracks in the band's discography, the cover art left a lot to be desired – until now. Inspired by the novel The Stand, Mora’s depiction of Captain Trips will have viewers twisting their minds with fear.
Sepultura – Arise
Michael Whelan’s original Arise artwork is already a macabre masterpiece, so it was a daunting task to create a piece that could hold a candle to it. But Mora’s portrayal of an apocalyptic clash in a city of ruins is something to behold – this is the obliteration of mankind the Max Cavalera had in mind.
