SPINAL TAP released a new album last week, their first in nearly 20 years, appropriately titled Back From The Dead which had six reworkings of classics as well as six new songs and the sucker sold like hotcakes. Ten Thousand CDs in the first week! That's a pretty great accomplishment for a band that doesn't really exist.
It may also have to do with the awesome packaging of the "digipack" which came with a bonus DVD. We got an advanced copy of the sucker and it folds out into the above little display piece which is great. You could even say the packaging goes to to 11. The bonus DVD is just the band (in character) in the studio discussing every track. It seems a bit long-winded but there are definitely some great little jokes throughout. Long live the Tap!
