Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande had to drop off the band's recent tour with Crowbar thanks to a broken leg. Casagrande successfully underwent surgery for the injury, only to come down with a kidney infection a few weeks later. Casagrande again went under the knife and has since been recovering from what turned out to be a very hellish month.
Now in a new interview with The Jasta Show, Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser reports that Casagrande is currently in physical therapy for his leg and is recovering. Kisser notes that it's not clear right now if Casagrande will be joining Sepultura for their upcoming shows (starting with Download Festival 2022 in a few weeks), and that the band will have a clearer idea of what's going on soon.
"Eloy is doing… he's doing great. I mean besides the other problem that he has in his [kidney] or something, I don't know too man of [the] details. But he's recovering well. I mean, he's already doing [physical therapy], you know – light exercises and stuff. So it seems that he's gonna be able to make it, you know, but let's see. This week we're gonna have a better idea and [we'll] see what happens."
We wish Casagrande all the best in his recovery.
