For those that may have missed out, Bandcamp is waiving their fees today. However, something else is happening today as well. Those into the grind scene might recognize today as the eighth birthday of Turkish grind unit Sakatat’s farewell record, Bir Devrin Sonu (translated: the end of an era). And for the occasion, Sakatat has decided to officially upload the record to Bandcamp, YouTube and Spotify, for all your eardrum crushing needs.

The album opens with “Ne Değişti?”, a seventeen-second blaster that sets the tone perfectly: raw blasting grindcore. It’s a bulldozer of an entrance that is unmistakably playing to destroy. And before you know it, “Onlara İhtiyacımız Yok” enters the ring, going even harder.

Sakatat have not forgotten the punk side of grind. The punch of punk can be heard everywhere on this album. “Bu Düzen Hepimizi Bir Gecede Harcayabilir” kicks things off like an 80s hardcore record before diving into the grind. “Kayıp” is a very punk sounding song that sounds like it is thrashing some oil drums.

But the more metallic side of grind is here too. The opening of “Devletin Terörü Kimi Koruyor? I” sounds like it is digging into some old school death metal/deathgrind mentality. The track is hard and breaks down heavy. Its second part sounds like something straight off an Insect Warfare record.

This is an incredible grind EP and a damn fine way to go out for any band. Every track is a certified pure grindcore banger. Eight years, eight tracks, in eight minutes and eight seconds. Pure, filthy grindcore that needs to be in any grinder’s library.

Should you choose to purchase this, all proceeds will be donated to an NGO.
