Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Unfortunately not even one month out from his passing, rumors have begun circulating about the band's future; specifically that Eddie's son and Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen will take his father's place on guitar.

Wolfgang has since addressed these issues on Twitter, saying they're a "shitty lie attempting to capitalize on these awful times. Please stop with this." Considering Wolfgang just lost his father, it's incredibly shitty indeed that folks are starting and perpetuating these kind of rumors.

The original false rumor read "VAN HALEN UPDATE: there is a good strong possibility that the band is not over (like it or not) this is the word that is being talked at the VH camp. Sammy Hagar: vocals, Michael Anthony: bass guitar, Alex Van Halen, percussion and Wolfgang Van Halen on guitar. It has been mentioned that Eddie Van Halen also told his son and brother, I give you my blessing……"

Remember the greatness of Eddie Van Halen by revisiting the band's final show on October 4, 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA and all the other tributes we've been posting in recent weeks.
