Smashing Pumpkins are considered alternative rock, right? Hard rock, maybe? But definitely not metal. Sure, they got Tommy Lee to drum on their last record but it wasn't metal. That might all chance with the next record.
Fact Magazine reports that Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder posted to his private Instagram that he and frontman Billy Corgan are working on a doom metal album. The accompanying photo was of a SunnO))) amplifier head, and he tagged it with the hashtag #sunn. Here's the photo:
This could certainly be a giant troll, but it could also happen. Corgan does enjoy experimenting with music, so this may be a possibility. But for now, take this as a giant rumor.
