The Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, OH is set to become 180 affordable apartment units, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The affordable housing development will consist of three- and four-story buildings providing one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments. While countless acts played the Alrosa Villa nightclub, its legacy, unfortunately, became known as the club where "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot on stage while performing with Damageplan.
Abbott, Damageplan head of security Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, nightclub employee Erin Halk, and fan Nathan Bray, were all killed by Nathan Gale during the December 8, 2004 show. The property was sold for $1.3 million and the city plans to contribute a total of $4.35 million to the project over the next two years.
Dimebag, and his brother Vinnie Paul, were both buried at the Moore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Arlington, TX.
