The kid is back! Phil Anselmo released his first solo album, Walk Through Exits Only yesterday (read our review here) and he's already talking about releasing more solo tracks. When does this dude sleep?
In a new interview with Billboard magazine, Phil revealed he would be releasing two new tracks in conjunction with his Housecore Horror Festival in October:
“I know for a fact I do have two songs that I’ll release strictly for the upcoming Housecore Horror (film) festival at the end of October in Austin, Texas. Those two songs, I think, musically flow together pretty fuckin’ well. They’re very sarcastic, very tongue-in-cheek. It’s all part of the ol’ Philip Anselmo fucked-up world — and I don’t mean drunk or wasted. I mean just fuckin’ crazy. It’s crazy around here!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Anselmo revealed that he and his backing band The Illegals actually wrote 15 – 17 tracks for the album, but due to pacing concerns only included eight on his solo debut. Could the band have enough material to work on a new album sometime shortly?
As for Phil's main gig with Down, he said the band is hoping to begin writing their next EP come November and that he "wouldn’t be surprised if we’re prepared and ready to release the next EP within the first month of 2014."
So more Phil solo jams and new Down jams all within the next year? Sounds like a good time to be a Phil Anselmo fan!
