Sharks Are Less Aggressive When Listening To Rock And Metal

AC/DC and Darkest Hour!

AC/DC and Darkest Hour!

Sharks just seem like they'd be pretty metal animals. In fact, Discovery Channel proved that sharks were metal in 2015 with an experiment involving the music of Darkest Hour. Now we've got proof that sharks are also rock fans, courtesy of a new animal science book called The Mice Who Sing for Sex: And Other Weird Tales from the World of Science.

The book was written by DJ Lliana Bird and Dr. Jack Lewis, who found that sharks were less aggressive when listening to “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “If You Want Blood (You Got It)" by AC/DC. The book says the reason for this is that sharks are drawn to the low pulsing sound (20 – 60 cycles per second) of metal… so at heart, I guess we're all sharks. Congratulations.

No word on if the book points out the irony of the latter song being well-received by sharks, but you can certainly find out by grabbing a copy here!
