Tool will release their long-awaited new album Fear Inoculum on August 30, putting an end to the endless sea of memes and jokes about new Tool material never actually surfacing. We recently posted about the album's dual track lists, how the album is breaking all kinds of records across the board, and of course posted the title track. It's been an endless deluge of awesome news that we've all been waiting for, though some fans didn't take the 13 year gap between records as well as others.

In an interview with Metal Hammer, drummer Danny Carey said some people were actually threatening frontman Maynard James Keenan with death over waiting for the new album. Which is an incredible depth of stupidity on a lot of different fronts, though the most glaring is that killing someone isn't going to make them do something. It will just make them forever inactive due to being dead.

“I felt bad for him [Keenan], and he even told me he was getting death threats from these idiots out there. They just have no idea what our work ethic is. These things don’t happen, man. There’s no other record that’s going to sound like this Tool record. What you hear is what you get, and what you get is what it takes to get it done. And it’s not an easy process.”

Bassist Justin Chancellor also discusses the lengthy writing process, saying the perfectionism of the band led them to quite literally toss entire albums before landing on Fear Inoculum.

“Sometimes I thought we were nearly there. We’d written an album or we had some songs that were cool, and then we’d dump the whole lot and start again. It was devastating.”

Chancellor was also the driving force behind Tool hitting the studio, eventually setting a deadline for the band after an endless writing cycle. Later on, Carey chimed back in, saying he hopes another Tool album won't take another 13 years, and that none of the band are getting any younger.

“My hope is we get in and knock out another record. We have tons of riffs and jams and things. It’s not going to take 12 years, or if it does, I’ll probably be so old I can’t pick up my sticks any more!”

So on August 31 is when we all start complaining about a new Tool album, right?
