Nü-metal is having its second wave right now and people seem to be loving it. From tours featuring Rob Zombie and Mudvayne to younger bands like Tetrarch and Tallah carrying the torch, it's safe to say that nü-metal is absolutely back. In a rapid-fire Q&A segment with Metal Hammer, Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis said he's glad to see the genre have a resurgence and that he's a big fan of the band Wargasm.
"I'm glad it's back, but the whole nu metal thing, it's just whatever! Ha ha! I like this one band called Wargasm. They're pretty cool. They're heavy, but they're new and different."
Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has expressed a similar sentiment in a recent interview, saying he and the band are proud to be seen as scene elders and that he's stoked people are still enjoying their music.
"We're proud to be seen as scene elders. It's funny, every band that would be associated with nü-metal never liked that title, because we never gave that tag to ourselves, it was whoever made it up, you know? When you're in a band, you want to call the shots, you want to be in charge of your branding, and it was someone else who branded us that. And so we were like, 'No, that's not cool. So we didn't like it.
"But nü-metal, love it or hate it, and Korn, has stood the test of time. And we're very grateful that we can be looked at as the originators, and that we started something that still reverberates all these decades later, and people are still liking it."
