Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry Supergroup Announce First Live Gigs

Former Guns N Roses members Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan to round out the live version of the group, calling themselves Hollywood Vampires

Earlier this week, we told you about your dad's new favorite supergroup, Hollywood Vampires… which featured as its primary players actor Johnny Depp, the legendary Alice Cooper and Aerosmith's equally legendary guitarist Joe Perry. The group recorded two original songs, and a bunch of covers, with a released planned shortly that will see all proceeds going to charity.

The scheduled release date is on September 11th and the band wants to celebrate with a live gig. They have announced two shows on September 16th and 17th… where else but in Hollywood? They will be performing at the world famous (and tiny) Roxy on the Sunset Strip. The band will be rounded out by former Guns N Roses bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum. Alice Cooper guitarist Tommy Henriksen and bassist Bruce Witkin will also contribute to the live performances. Another gig that's lined up will be in front of a much larger audience… Sept. 24th as part of Brazil's huge Rock in Rio festival.

Proving that the band is all about charity, before the Rio gig, the band are meeting with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to help fit 150 people with hearing aids then bringing some to the show, where these fans will be hearing music for the first time. How cool is that?

According to Rolling Stone, some covers in the band's repetoire include the Who's "My Generation," the Doors' "Five to One" and "Break on Through," Nilsson's "Jump Into the Fire," Lennon's "Cold Turkey" and Jimi Hendrix's "Manic Depression."

I'm curious to see/hear how these live shows turn out.
