Here's a quote that might either upset longtime White Zombie fans or excite them.
John 5 was asked what fans could expect from the new Rob Zombie album by Talk Toomey Podcast and he gave this quote:
“The Zombie album is wrapped, mixed, mastered and heavy and awesome. And hooky and musical, and badass. The best Zombie record to date—better than White Zombie anything…He went nuts on this one. I’m telling you, it’s the best Zombie record you guys will hear. And we’re going to have a big tour. We’re going to do videos, and you know, I’ve been in the band with the guy forever and I just love him.”
That's some high expectations to set for Zombie's music. The album is expected this summer. Fans of White Zombie have been clamoring for a reunion forever, but Rob Zombie has made it clear he has no interest in doing one.
In an 2013 interview with Consequence of Sound, Rob Zombie made the following statement about the status of the now-defunct White Zombie and the possibility of a reunion:
No. We did it, and it's done. And it wouldn't be good. That's the thing. I mean, a lot of people forget, because they went to see White Zombie and they were 15 years old and it was their first concert and everybody in White Zombie was, like, 23 years old. They're no longer 15 and they're gonna come to the concert at 40 and look at White Zombie, who are all gonna be 50, and go, 'This sucks now.' I mean, they forget that time marched on and changed. So I don't wanna come back and do it again just so that it can be inferior.
