Ithaca was slated to play the first show of their European tour on March 10 at the Die Stadtmitte in Karlsruhe, Germany and things didn't go so well. According to the band, they were locked inside the venue as a hostage situation went down at a next door pharmacy.
"First show with didn’t exactly go as planned – show cancelled and us being shut into the venue all night," said Ithaca in a tweet. "Thankful no one was hurt. We’re so sorry to everyone with tickets and we hope to see you soon! Tonight we’re in Bochum, let’s try this again."
According to Reuters, a male suspect was arrested after a special unit got into the pharmacy next door to the Die Stadtmitte. Police stated there were multiple hostages involved, which Reuters cites Stuttgarter Zeitung in saying "two people had been taken hostage and that there was a demand for a ransom of a single-digit million euro sum."
Ithaca's European tour with Get The Shot and Thrown runs as follows throughout the rest of March. We're also glad all the bands involved are alright. As for the hostages, it's been reported they were rescued with no injuries.
