EL-P is half the rap duo Run the Jewels and if you're into that kind of thing, they're really damn good. Zack de la Rocha is the frontman of Rage Against the Machine, who… do I really need to explain who they are? Come on, man. The reason I bring the two seemingly unrelated individuals up is because, according to NME, they've been buds for quite some time and there might be some kind of collaboration happening.
Initially EL-P had the following to say about the duo-
“In 1999 I spent a month in my apartment in Brooklyn with Zack de la Rocha just before he split Rage Against The Machine, working on music that will never see the light of day. I can’t speak about his future but I will say that I’m going to LA to spend another month with him in January.”
Once that got out, EL-P dropped the following two juicy nuggets of information-
“please understand the ZDLR thing is not at all %100. y’all gonna fuck it up by jumping the gun on that one. bad luck. BAD LUCK I SAY.”
“or maybe I’m lying about it not being confirmed. hard to tell, really. not sure i even know if i know.”
Those might as well read something along the lines of "legally I'm not allowed to talk about it but this is totally happening." In the meantime, you can enjoy the Run the Jewels track "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)" with Zack as a guest vocalist!
