This is speculation in a sense, but they've been announced to play shows...

Last night, I was looking at the lineup for Riot Fest 2014. Slayer was announced, Clutch was announced, Gwar was announced… wait, Gwar?!

Yeah, according to The PRP, Gwar are scheduled to play the September 12 through 14 dates of the festival in Chicago and I am extremely confused. Are the band going on without Oderus Urungus? Are they going to do a Suicide Silence-type deal and do a bunch of songs with guest vocals? At first I thought this was something only The PRP was reporting, but Riot Fest's Facebook seems to have the poster for the event as well:

Personally, it would be hard to accept anybody but Brockie behind the mic for a Gwar show. At the same time it would be selfish of us fans to think that the rest of the band shouldn't go on with their careers as musicians in Gwar (or otherwise), a job they've been doing for 30 years, as they basically know nothing else. So we'll take a wait and see attitude to how this plays out.

Update: MetalSucks reached out to a band rep who confirmed this is not a mistake and that “Riot Fest is keeping GWAR’s spot warm for them and something will happen.”

How do you think the band should proceed?
