Ghost recently unveiled their Carpenter Brut remix of their new track "Dance Macabre" and people seemed to dig it. Rightfully so too, considering synthwave artist Carpenter Brut, or Franck Hueso as he's named, is a legitimately talented dude. In an interview with Loudwire, they asked frontman Tobias Forge how the remix came about. Forge says he knows Hueso because they're both huge Deathspell Omega fans and Hueso is their friggin' producer.
I knew Franck and the band from before. I think our whole relationship started a few years ago. I’m a big fan of Deathspell Omega, and because he had produced or recorded them, he emailed me introducing himself, saying, “Hey, I’m the producer of Deathspell Omega and I just wanted to let you know that I have a band called Carpenter Brut and we would love to, at some point down the line, do some sort of collaboration.” I said, “Okay, great.”
Deathspell Omega is notable for giving zero interviews and never purposefully revealing anything about themselves. So my mind was a little blown by the fact that of all people, Carpenter Brut would be their producer. Frankly I just assumed either Satan or a shambling mound of corpses produced everything they did.
