iHeartRadio has announced the nominees for their 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The nominations in the rock category are about what you'd expect from an entity like iHeartRadio, though there are some confusing ones thrown in there. For instance, Five Finger Death Punch is nominated for Rock Song of the Year, but the song nominated came out in 2020. Same with the band being nominated for Rock Artist of the Year – Five Finger Death Punch put out no music in 2021 and played two shows. This isn't even a dig at Five Finger Death Punch, so much as it is total confusion about the nomination.
Oh, then there's Architects being nominated for Best New Rock Artist. Architects formed in 2004. And Medicine at Midnight by Foo Fighters was nominated for Best Comeback Album despite the fact there was only a less-than-four year gap between records, unlike Abba whose gap was literal decades. I know award ceremonies tend not to care about rock, but… come on.
