The biggest story in the news cycle currently is the tragic death of two newscasters in Roanoke, VA by a former reporter for the station, who eventually took his own life as well. This is a very sensitive topic right now, and rightfully so.
MetalSucks reports that at the same time, Disturbed have been running a promo clip for their new album, Immortalized, which featured footage from the music video for "The Vengeful One" that had the band mascot gunning down people in a TV station. To avoid any potential offense, the band's label pulled the advertising.
The clip on it's own can seem disturbing, but in the context of the entire "The Vengeful One" video, it's clear this is all just a fantasy of this world where robots and zombies control the media and the Disturbed mascot tries to stop it. While it isn't condoning any sort of violence on it's own, I appreciate the band and their label, Warner, showing sensitivity to a topic that is still very fresh in our minds.
