Despite Rumors, Ex-IRON MAIDEN Frontman Paul Di'Anno Doesn't Have Cancer

There were tumors, but they weren't malignant.

There were tumors, but they weren't malignant.

Yesterday there was a story floating around regarding ex-Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno and a cancer diagnosis, as per information given by also ex-Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley. In an interview with HumoNegro, Bayley said Di'Anno is currently in the hospital, will be for another four months, and has cancer.

“Paul’s in the hospital right now. He’s got cancer, and also he’s got problems with his knees and his hip. So he’s gonna be in the hospital for another four months. He’s doing okay and he’s responding to treatment. We’ve played together many shows around the world — in Russia, Sweden and Australia — and the only places, really, that we haven’t done are South America. So when he gets better — maybe in a year or so — maybe we’ll be able to do a tour like that.”

Bayley's comments were at the very least semi-backed up by Di'Anno's band Architects of Chaoz via a May 17 post on Facebook. At the time, the band said Di'Anno was in the hospital where doctors had seen shadows on his chest and lungs. So y'know, possibly some type of metastatic cancer.

"At the moment Paul has got a shadow on his chest and lungs and a problem with his lymph nodes. Moreover he has a total arthritic break down with his legs. He will stay in hospital for a long period of time to get everything checked!

We will keep you updated as soon as we've got more detailed informations."

Despite Bayley's comments, Metal Voice posted a conversation with Di'Anno after the story began circulating where Di'Anno himself confirmed that he did not have cancer.

So there you have it. Despite the rumors, Paul Di'Anno is alright! Because seriously, 2016 needs to chill the fuck out with taking the lives of everyone who's even relatively well known in the rock and metal world.
