Original ALICE IN CHAINS bassist, Mike Starr found dead at age 44

In an incredibly sad turn of events, Mike Starr, the original bassist for Alice In Chains was found dead today in a Salt Lake City, UT home according to TMZ.

Starr was last in the news last month when he was picked up for possession, and had been on the third season of Celebrity Rehab. Starr, tragically, is the second member of Alice in Chains to die of an overdose, as original frontman Layne Staley died of an overdose in 2002.

Alice In Chains are one of the most influential bands of the '90s, setting a blueprint that many late '90s bands would completely rip off and make millions off of.

I was going to pick a song to post here as a tribute to Starr, and my pick couldn't be as perfect as Axl Rosenberg's from Metalsucks, who picked "Rain When I Die" writing:

Here’s “Rain When I Die” — a song he co-wrote, and which features one of his most famous bass lines — in his honor. I wish it didn’t suddenly seem eerily fitting.
