It seems with all this talk about Kurt Cobain today (much like it did 17 years ago), it pretty much over shadowed most other news going on. Well I for one never saw one obituary more important or valuable than another (I'm looking at you MTV), so I was certainly bummed to hear today that former long time Manowar drummer, Scott Columbus, had passed away yesterday at age 54.
The band had posted this message on their official facebook page earlier today:
"With great sorrow we announce the passing of our brother Scott Columbus. A rare talent, equally a rare individual, a father, a friend and a brother of metal. All of the great moments we spent together are burnished in our hearts and memories forever. We know he is in a good place and at peace. He will never be forgotten." Your family and brothers, Joey, Eric, Karl, Donnie. And all at Magic Circle Music.
The cause of death seems to be undetermined at this time, but even at his age the guy looked like he could bench press the entire Metal Injection Live Cast before breakfast, so it's hard to imagine what could have happened. None the less, as a long time fan of Manowar, and Scott Columbus' playing, I'd like to extend my condolences to the band and family at this time.
