JUDAS PRIEST Frontman Rob Halford To Undergo Umbilical Hernia Surgery

Our metal heroes are getting old.

Our metal heroes are getting old.

If you want to be grossed out, do a quick Google image search for umbilical hernia. It's a condition defined as " an outward bulging (protrusion) of the abdominal lining or part of the abdominal organ(s) through the area around the belly button."

Rob Halford recently revealed to ABC News Radio that he will be undergoing a procedure to get this fixed:

"My doctors always said, 'We can take care of it,' and I said, 'I'll get around to it.' [The doctor said,] 'If it's not giving you any discomfort then you should leave it as it is,' but it's not very appealing to look at, is it?"

This surgery is on the heels of Halford's back surgery last year, which resulted in him temporarily requiring the use of a cain. Through it all, Halford is in good spirits:

"The wonderful thing about heavy metal music is that it's immortal. The music is immortal, but the creators are not bestowed with that attribute."

Judas Priest are gearing up to release their new album, Redeemer of Souls on July 15th. Hear the first single from the album here.
