When I'm sick all I want is my bed asap. So I can only imagine how much it must suck to get sick on the road. Jason Newsted was feeling a bit under the weather while out on Gigantour and decided to get some medical attention. Turns out, doctors told him he needs to be sidelined for a week to get better. Here's the statement Newsted released this past weekend:
Hey friends…I'd been feeling a bit under the weather while performing the most recent Gigantour shows so I went to the Dr. on my day off today & I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia!!! So under doctor's orders, I'm taking a week to rebuild…my apologies to our Canadian brothers & sisters in regions where we will not be appearing this week. I'm gonna work on keeping me alive so together we can keep the metal alive!!!! Cheers to all!! Jason
Kudos to Jason for being upfront about his cancellations. Health is always the top priority. Interestingly enough, the first person to wish him well was Dave Mustaine, even hinting at the long-suggested collaboration:
