Another piece of the New York metal scene is gone. Ever since the shuttering of CBGB's in 2006, it seemed the metal scene in New York was in trouble. Soon after, Knitting Factory shut down and recently Roseland Ballroom. But, in Brooklyn, a new scene was erupting.
Venues like Saint Vitus Bar, The Acheron and the new Lucky 13 Saloon opened up giving smaller bands a place to call home. Sadly, one of those venues is closing. The founder of the Acheron that the cozy concert venue has to shut down on July 9th:
The Acheron has a special place in the heart of Metal Injection, as in the last few years, it was the home of our annual CMJ showcase that we promote along with MetalSucks every year. Additionally, it's one of the few venues that would allow our videographer Frank Huang to shoot full sets, which he did reguarly.
Even one of their competitng bars, Saint Vitus paid their respects:
Hopefully, there will be a new space soon, but for now, let's enjoy my favorite clip from the venue…
