Well this is no fun! Children of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho spent the last few days in the hospital as a result of severe stomach pains. This resulted in the band having to cancel shows in Norway and Sweden as the Finnish frontman needed to spend some time in the hospital for diagnosis. No word on what caused the pains. The band released this official statement:
“It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel tonight’s show in Oslo as well as tomorrow night’s show in Malmö.
Alexi was rushed to the Oslo hospital earlier this evening with extreme stomach pain. The doctors in the emergency unit checked him and while we are still waiting for a diagnosis, they made clear that he will not be able to perform within the next 48 hours.
We apologize to all our fans who have bought tickets to these shows – we will try to reschedule both Oslo and Malmö at the earliest possibility. Keep your fingers crossed with us that Alexi will get well again soon!”

I'm no doctor but maybe the copious amounts of alcohol Alexi ingests everyday may have something to do with it? The band are not shy about being alcoholics, with Alexi admitting in a 2009 interview with us that the only way he could get to sleep was to drink a bottle of Jamison. Again, that was three years ago, so maybe he's calmed down a little, but who are we kidding?
Bodom recently signed to Nuclear Blast Records and are planning to release an album of new material in 2013.
