English doom unit Conan has parted ways with bassist Chris Fielding. Conan states that Fielding is leaving the band to focus on other areas of his life, but will still continue to produce Conan in the studio. Conan further notes that they'll announce their new bassist in "due course."
Fielding played for Conan between 2013 and present day. His final effort with Conan was their 2022 full-length Evidence Of Immortality.
"Nothing lasts forever… It is with sadness that we announce the imminent departure of Chris Fielding from Conan," wrote the band.
"Chris joined the band late 2013, as a replacement for Phil Coumbe, and established himself as a very important member both in his role as performer and also as producer. Together we have enjoyed many enjoyable trips and experiences and created music that we are very proud of. We have become close friends during that time and so of course we support Chris's wish to focus on other areas of his life. He will of course remain as our producer.
"Chris's last shows with Conan will come during our upcoming UK tour in March 2024. Make sure you come along and say goodbye. We have appointed Chris's successor and will make an announcement on that in due course."
