Bandcamp continued their pandemic tradition of Bandcamp Fridays through the beginning of 2021 up until May. Every Bandcamp Friday took place on the first Friday of every month, and was a day where Bandcamp waived all their fees. This meant artists would receive 100% of their revenue. Of course after the May one ended, Bandcamp users and artists began asking if there would be more – and there will be!
According to Bandcamp, they'll continue Bandcamp Fridays from August through the end of the year. The site will also hold their second annual Juneteenth fundraiser on June 18, where they'll donate all their proceeds to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
"On Friday, June 18th, from midnight to midnight Pacific Time, we’ll hold our second annual Juneteenth fundraiser where we donate 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund," said the site.
"The LDF has a long history of effectively enacting change through litigation, advocacy, and public education, and we’re doing this annually in recognition of the fact that real progress towards racial equity requires a sustained, ongoing commitment. We’ll promote the fundraiser to fans the week before June 18th, and hope you’ll help us spread the word.
"Also! The next Bandcamp Friday will be on August 6th, and we’ll continue to hold those on the first Friday of the month for the rest of 2021."
