After years of blurring genre barriers, exploring new sonic possibilities and growing, expanding and perpetually building towards bold new heights, Lord are back with a new album. Desperation Finds Hunger In All Men is to be their greatest, and final offering.
A wonderfully long and incredibly dense sonic spectacle, this is a record that blurs a variety of genres into something grandiose and powerful. The overarching darkness and heartrending madness encapsulated in their new record is tangled, even labyrinthine.
With a rich production and endless chunky riffs, this record finds solace in the monolith of inhumanity and the pure musical atrocity of it all. There are powerful themes throughout but also a sense of our own fragile humanity. Suffice it to say, all this makes for an interesting listen.
The bands frontman, Kerch, had this to say:
Desperation is defined as a state of despair, typically resulting in rash or extreme behavior. Hunger is defined as a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack. Instinctively there is a will to avoid discomfort and weakness, to survive, to overcome, to be victorious. As peoples become more and more desperate, they hunger more fiercely for relief from the discomfort of their despair, their perceived lack. The final release from Lord is a collection of songs that tell the tale of both sides of the coin in global desperation for victory, for survival, and of spiritual liberation.
The truth is in plain sight, but to many, obscured by a world consumed by over consumption, by lies, by half truths, by malicious secrecy, by manipulation. This album is about triumph and eternity, wanton disregard for humanity and for natural resources, political corruption and control through the iron fists of manipulation, man's ravenous application of dog eat dog psychology and lifestyle, suicide and sexual immorality, thoughtlessness of cultural norms that mutilate the flesh and the individual spirit, astral (demonic) encounter and the lasting pain of losing progeny.
We all hunger for something that we are desperate to achieve. Seek the one truth, infallible and perfectly beautiful. Please enjoy the music and message of this album, at loud volumes and with an open heart and a mind ready to find answers.
