Tech-Death Tuesday: RAPTVRE Summon Indomitable Monuments Of Bitterness

RAPTVRE

Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

We’re getting into the end of the year as far as the music world is concerned. Next week I’ll do an expansive feature covering the best albums and EP’s for tech-death launched this year per my widely incorrect and dumb opinion I am told. A point I’m okay with playing along with really. The larger point being I still have some more from 2019 to cover which will creep into the beginning of 2020.

Before we get there, I’ve got one more killer release from this year to share with you. It’s from a fairly new group called Ravpture who hail from Cologne, Germany. The project has only been around since 2018 and has released one demo effort prior to the recent late-November launch of Monuments Of Bitterness through The Crawling Chaos Records.

Working within an overall Gorguts, Ulcerate, and Deathspell Omega-led framework, Raptvre is worth discussing as a group who’ve sorted out a triangulation between these varied realms tied to a varied different sonic focus that is mature, brutal, bleak, and utterly disgusting in a beautiful way all at once really. While doing a bit of research on the project, their prodigious mastery of this style makes more sense given the member's time spent playing in ongoing awesome acts like Ayahuasca, Pripjat, and a few others.

I’ll always be a big fan of this sort of dissonant tech-death laced with black metal, yet, it takes bands doing it really impressively by now to keep my attention. Raptvre – Monuments Of Bitterness is precisely that sort of standout effort worthy of praise.

If you’re looking for one final bleak nail in the coffin to imbibe when it comes to dissonant tech-death, let Raptvre – Monuments Of Bitterness be that last aural wound that cuts forever from 2019 into the future.  The album is embedded below and I urge you to check it out. If you like what you hear, Monuments Of Bitterness can be ordered through Bandcamp. You can follow the group over on the Raptvre Facebook page.
