Plenty of bands adopt the desert rock label, but few embody it as well as Palehorse/Palerider. Experience their soundtrack to dry heat and endless sunlight below with our premiere of the new song "Badlands." I suggest you bring suntan lotion and a bottle of water before hitting play, because it's a long journey through the heat.
"This is the soundtrack to the New West. The focus of the Legends of the Desert is to provide a modern perspective to the antiquated 'Wild West' we have etched in our brains. These songs and tales are not told by the same ol' perspective of the white male Cowboy. These are stores told by those who never got their stories heard. We will hear from musicians, artists, Natives, outlaws, desert rats, desert dwellers, cactuses and mesas, ravens and roadrunners, snakes and endless skies.
"We will hear sounds and stories of the real West. Fuck John Wayne, Fuck his lame racsist ass, and Fuck the horse he rode in on. This is Legends of the Desert."
Palehorse/Palerider's coming split with Lord Buffalo, titled Legends of the Desert: Volume 1, is out on August 21. Legends of the Desert is the first of a seven album series that will span the next two years. Though I'm sure you'll have no trouble keeping up with the series, as I'm planning on telling everyone about every single one of these releases!
Pre-orders are available here via Desert Records, the band themselves, and Lord Buffalo.
