Code Orange recently made headlines for getting into a bit of a spat with Of Mice & Men over their Grammy loss, but now they're making headlines for actual music! The band has just released a new song called "Only One Way" as part of Adult Swim's Singles series, and it's a bit of a trip. "Only One Way" was recorded with Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA, and the song seems to be purposefully all over the place. Code Orange says the intent was to take a structured song and mash it all up, and that sentiment certainly comes across.
The band also says they're trying to release new music more often "in an attempt to break down rock and metal’s formulaic pattern of long breaks between outputs." So I guess fewer albums and more EP and single releases?
"We wanted to write a song that felt like something structurally sound and melodic, being chewed up and spit out by a machine; our machine. We plan to release material on a more regular basis in an attempt to break down rock and metal’s formulaic pattern of long breaks between outputs. This means we must work twice as hard, so we will. The hurt will go on. The end will never come…"
