When Mastodon is engulfed in controversy, they deal with it head on. Last week, after the band released their new music video for "The Motherload", they were accused of releasing a sexist video, which even one of the dancers in the video said was not the case.
Typically, a band of Mastodon's stature would avoid the topic and let the controversy die down. Not Mastodon! Over the weekend, the above design surfaced on Facebook via bassist Troy Sanders' brother, Darren. While it has since been deleted, at the time of the post, Darren stated the above shirt should be posted in the band's merch store soon. As of this writing, the shirt isn't up for sale, but there is a different Halloween shirt already posted for sale.
Coincidentally, Mastodon were under hot fire last year for a controversial Thanksgiving t-shirt design, so it seems these guys love to stir the pot with their merch designs.
