Horror film inspired Rock band Ice Nine Kills are releasing The Silver Scream novel based off their previous album of the same name this August 2023 in hardcover, e-book, and a limited edition vinyl audio book narrated by American actor Tony Todd.
Over the last four decades horror classic films such as A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The Thirteenth, Halloween, The Shining, IT, and Saw have become staples in the horror film industry. Spencer Charnas lead vocalist and founder of Ice Nine Kills is a horror film fanatic. Throughout Charnas' career he has lyrically and visually spawned ideas from multiple horror movie classics, and with Ice Nine Kills they've successfully birthed a sonic blend of metalcore and rock music to pay homage to these classic films.
In October of 2018 Ice Nine Kills released their fifth studio album The Silver Scream. The first single "The American Nightmare" inspired by the horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street was pre-released in June earlier that year. This release created a buzz around the bands upcoming album, and at that time became the bands highest charting album scanning 19,000 copies in the first week. This horror inspired thirteen track record landed the band in the top ten on Billboard's top album charts.
After the success of The Silver Scream Ice Nine Kills released the follow up to The Silver Scream series with The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood in October 2021. To date this has become the band's biggest success reaching No. 18 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Chart, also claiming the No. 1 spot on the Hardrock Albums Chart. This horror inspired album also featured a number of guest vocalists such as Jacoby Shaddix, Brandon Saller, and George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher.
Now coming this summer, Bayonet Award winning television reporter Roy Merkin has teamed up with Ice Nine Kills to release another chapter of The Silver Scream Series with this horrifically murderous detailed novel. Merkin takes us through the valley of Charnas's nightmares, reconstructing how art became murder, and how the copycat murders of some of horrors classic killings became real.
