Whoever thought it was a good idea to steal Zakk Wylde's personal belongings is an absolute idiot.
The Chicago Tribute is reporting that a $10,000 custom made guitar and BLS vest was stolen from Wylde's tour bus on Friday night.
Wylde is on the road as part of the Experience Hendrix Tour and left the guitar on the bus after his portion of the show was completed. Upon returning at 11:30pm, he noticed his jacket and the guitar were not in the bus.
"I thought somebody might have picked it up and put it in the back lounge (inside the theatre)," Wylde said when reached by phone Saturday from the tour's next stop in Ames, Iowa. But a search of the lounge came up empty, he said, as did a thorough search of the bus.
"In 25-plus years, I've never had anything stolen," he said.
After a quick look at security footage, it seems a tour manager got on the bus to stock it with food and drinks and forgot to lock it. At around 10:11 pm three men entered the bus and grabbed the goods. There is video surveillance of the theft which was handed over to police.
The guitar was a custom Pelham Blue Les Paul guitars with Wylde's signature bullseye design, one of only two made. Wylde is asking fans in the Chicago area be on the lookout at pawn shops, flea markets and eBay.
