Five MORE Underground Metal Labels That You Should Know

There are many underground labels doing incredible work. Here are five (well, technically six) labels that stand out!

There are many underground labels doing incredible work. Here are five (well, technically six) labels that stand out!

Back in June, fellow Metal Injection writer, Matt Bacon, compiled a list of five prominent underground labels that "… serve as a primer for anybody trying to get a little more deeply involved in the world of truly underground music." Matt's personal list shed light on a handful of great labels out there that are releasing brilliant and sometimes off-kilter records that push the limits of prototypical metal (I am looking at you, I, Voidhanger Records.) Some time has passed since the original feature. It seemed worthwhile to bring it up again. This time around, I thought it fitting to share five more labels that are consistently releasing great music that may have been overlooked.

For context, my personal tastes reside in black metal, death metal, and funeral doom. The labels featured are listed in alphabetical order. There are many fans and musicians alike who strongly believe in what the underground metal community is doing. The hope is that just one (but hopefully all) of these labels will broaden someone's personal tastes and open the door to some of the greater and more vibrant metal that exists. Click through and discover something new!
