“Leaves are falling all around, time I was on my way”
Once again, that wonderful, fascinating time of year is here. Last year, I drew up a list of 12 songs for fall that metalheads could check out to enjoy the atmosphere of the season. But, as I could tell by your enthusiastic comments, I made a number of omissions that I’d like to correct here.
What makes a song great for Autumn? It’s a slippery subject to consider, but I’d say it would have to be something that captures the same level of grandeur and almost Tolkien-esque curiosity of the season. The sound has to have a certain power and darkness to it, but not in a grim, wintery sense. This is why I wouldn’t include orthodox 2nd-wave black metal on this list.
Anyway, here are 8 more songs for your enjoyment. I don’t really know why I did 12 to begin with, but I figured giving you a nice round number of 20 would suit things rather nicely.
