Look, I'm over Christmas sweaters, and I'm over sincere metal Christmas albums, but this… this is the best fucking idea I've ever heard.
Hate Eternal bassist J.J. Hrubovcak has completed a collection of death metal covers of classic Christmas tunes for a new EP release. The one released song sounds magical.
Death Metal Christmas – Hellish Renditions Of Christmas Classics which is described in the press release as "a twistedly unholy rendition of some of the seasons darkest hymns" will feature five classic Christmas tracks ripped apart, with blast beats, guitar solos and new lyrics. The album was engineered with the help of Hate Eternal mastermind Erik Rutan and check out this tracklisting:
1. Unrest For Melancholy Men (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen)
2. Earthen Kings (We Three Kings)
3. Nutracker: Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy
4. Greensleeves
5. O Come, O Come, Azrael (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel)
The opening track is up for streaming and after listening to it, consider me convinced:
