What Does This Cryptic SLIPKNOT Poster Found At Download Festival Mean?

slipknot 2019

Were you amongst the hundred thousand people that flocked to Download Festival and got caught in the muddiness of the weekend? From what my friends have told me and what I've seen on social media, it seems like all the major bands delivered – Slayer's last UK show, Lamb of God, Slipknot and Tool all came through with awesome sets.

For Slipknot, it was the only show they had scheduled in the UK so far this year. It is, of course, festival season, so they're going all over Europe to play, but as far as the United Kingdom, this was their only show. Fans in attendance at Download saw this cryptic ad amongst other flyers for upcoming shows and album releases:

Based on this being their only UK show, it would seem that the 'knot are teasing a proper UK tour (likely a full European run as well, I mean they'd already be around). I would assume it would kick off in the first quarter of 2020.

Another possibility is Knotfest coming to Europe. Kerrang! reported that the band's manager had been approached previously about throwing a version of the maggot festival on the other side of the pond:

“The first one is in Clisson, France, the day before Hellfest starts,” the ’Knot’s long-term manager Cory Brennan told Music Week. “You buy a separate ticket to Knotfest and a separate ticket to Hellfest. We’re at 40,000 tickets, and it’ll sell out. Now we’re getting approached about doing Knotfest in Germany, Switzerland, and throughout Europe.”

The only other thing it could be is possibly a new live album? But they just released a live album prior to this album cycle, so it might seem a bit rushed.

I'm sure we'll know soon enough. We Are Not Your Kind comes out on August 9th.
