ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease is a terrible disease that affects the human's nervous system and the spine. You have had to be living under a rock these last few days not to notice that ALS's Ice Bucket Challenge has been spread viral all over the internet to spread awareness and raise some money for the ALS Association.
The challenge is simple. You dump a bucket of ice over your head and then challenge a few others to do the same. If they do not want to compete in the challenge, they can simply donate to the ALS association. Once they take the challenge, they must challenge others. Naturally, this viral sensation was met with cynicism and yet the challenge has helped raise over $15.6 million dollars so far, according to Time, compared to only about $50,000 this same time last year.
Today, the challenge goes metal as Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor was challenged and accepted the ice bucket challenge. Here's his video:
Taylor challenged Anthrax's Scott Ian, Chris Jericho and producer Jay Ruston to the Ice Bucket Challenge. Ruston has already accepted by donating to the ALS association.
You don't need to compete in the challenge to donate. Make your donations here.
Update: More Ice Bucket Challenges by metalheads here.
Primus' Les Claypool also took the challenge, and I feel his video is a bit more creative:
