Nick Menza Suggests That He's Close To Returning To MEGADETH

Is he honey dicking us?

Is he honey dicking us?

Ever since guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover announced they were leaving Megadeth, speculation has run rampant on their replacements. Megadeth posted a video claiming to have found their new drummer,  with the drummer's face cropped out, but that all could've been a ruse.

One person lobbying for the gig was Nick Menza, the band's drummer during their peak. Previously, Menza said he is open to returning (duh!) and at this weekend's NAMM convention, he further added flames to the rumor fire. When Menza was asked by The Examiner if he was rejoining the band, he responded with “It’ll be final when it’s final,” which certainly suggests both parties would be open to it.

Metal Insider further adds some gasoline to the fire by noticing “soon after Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover left Megadeth, bassist David Ellefson reportedly started following Marty Friedman’s and Nick Menza’s Twitter accounts.” Of course, this could just be a bunch of misleading but who knows.

Also important to note, that all four members of the classic Megadeth lineup, Mustaine, Ellefson, Menza and guitarist Marty Friedman were all present at the NAMM show this weekend. Friedman even appeared with Steel Panther.

Personally, I spoke to a few people in the know at the convention about the current lineup and a response I got was "You will not be disappointed" and when I asked if members were returning I got a polite nod and nothing more.

While previously, I was telling anybody who would listen that it would make no sense for Mustaine to pay Menza and Friedman the rates they are asking for when he could hire some new guns at a much cheaper rate, with the rumor mill the way it is, and all members adding the fuel to the press fire, I would say if at least Menza or Friedman don't return, it will be a huge disappointment to fans.

How do you feel about it?
