METALLICA Are Most-Likely Going On A US Stadium Tour in 2017

At this point, it's all but confirmed.

At this point, it's all but confirmed.

With the release of Hardwired…To Self Destruct a week away, the next question on everybody's minds is when is Metallica  going to do a proper tour again?

The band have been playing spot shows and festivals for years now, but it's been a while since they've properly toured. It's clear that's about to change. In a recent interview with Boston rock radio station, WAAF, Robert Truijillo said of possible touring:

WAAF: True or false? There’s a lot of rumors about a big outdoor stadium tour in America next summer. Is it happening or not, Robert?

Trujillo: I hope it’s happening! We have an album, it’s coming out, it’s great, I love it. I think it’s sonically… for me, I think it’s the best sounding Metallica album ever. And we want to play all these songs. We love these songs and we love what we’ve done and want to share it with our friends all over the U.S. and all over the world, so I would say yes.

Now, while that is not a concrete confirmation, at Metallica's intimate New York City show last month at Webster Hall, Lars Ulrich promised he'd see the fans again soon, and that it would be at “a large outdoor venue across the river in 2017” – which would indicate MetLife Stadium, the former Giants Stadium – a venue the band is all too familiar with, having previously played there many times on the Summer Sanitarium tour.

Could the Summer Sanitarium be making a comeback in 2017? The bill in the past would include rock-friendly acts like Korn, Kid Rock, System of A Down, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and Disturbed. In recent years, Metallica has taken some more underground names like Lamb of God and Gojira out on the road.

Who do you see opening for Metallica on their 2017 touring?

For now, here's the band performing their single "Moth Into Flame" at last month's intimate NYC show:
