AC/DC Might Be Done With A New Record

Rumors of a new AC/DC record have been floating around quite a bit in 2019. Bassist Cliff Williams may be involved with the new material despite having departed the band in 2016, and vocalist Brian Johnson certainly seems to be back as well. Now fueling the rumor mill is longtime engineer Mike Fraser, who in an interview with Australian mastering engineer Tony "Jack The Bear" Mantz says the band has been in the studio "doing something."

"Umm… Well, yeah, I could say that we've been in the studio doing something. What's come of that I can't discuss yet, but uh…"

I think the interesting part of that quote is the "What's come of that" bit, which implies they're done recording. If the rumors are to be believed, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young's tracks were used on the album as well. Young passed away in 2017 and has since been filled in for live by his nephew Stevie Young.

It also seems like Guns N' Roses vocalist Axl Rose is out of the picture. Rose played with the band live from 2016 onward after Johnson departed the band due to hearing loss.
