Metallica have a ton of merch out in the world. In recent years, they announced their own line of Vans shoes, Funko pop figurines, skate decks, pinball games, $50 ties and this gaudy collaboration with Supreme clothing.
But the band might be currently working on their coolest collaboration yet. The band are teaming up with former the veteran former master distiller at Maker's Mark whiskey, Dave Pickerell, for their own line of the sauce. Pickerell tells The WhiskyCast:
“I can just say that we’re going to make a killer whiskey product, and probably build a little distillery someplace as well…putting all the logistics together and crashing just as hard as we can.”
Pickerell notes he plans to build a new distillery for the band from scratch for this project. Pickerell is currently scouting locations with potential operations in either Louisville, Nashville or the band’s native Bay Area:
“San Fransisco, the home of Metallica, Louisville, the home of bourbon, and Nashville, the home of music … one of those three seems to make sense. I”m voting for San Fransisco and the Bay Area, if nothing falls apart.”
As MetalSucks points out, based on who the band is working with, they would likely be producing a burbon over an Irish whiskey, but who cares, just gimme some already!
