METALLICA Bassist Says The Band Is "Blueprinting" The New Album Right Now
I think the most exciting thing about a new Metallica record will definitely be that the members of Metallica can finally stop constantly talking about how they're writing a new record. Until then, we hang on every word! In a recent interview with bassist Rob Trujillo, he says the band is currently in the process of blueprinting the album out and talks about the "organic growth" of Metallica songs from initial writing stages to completion.
"We’re just blueprinting everything right now. There are a lot of ideas, a lot of song bodies, you gotta go through the process. For me personally I’m really excited about what we’ve been able to jam out. I don’t like to make predictions, but I’d like to think – at least for me – that I’m really happy with what’s happening instrumentally.
So let’s see how that journey continues. Writing a Metallica song is a journey and a process, and it takes time. But that’s what’s special about it. Metallica likes to nurture a song, nurture an arrangement."
So at least there's thing happening in the Metallica camp! I know earlier in the year the band was saying they hadn't really been doing much in terms of the new stuff, so here's hoping we see a new album in maybe…. 2027?
