MEGADETH Show In Paraguay Cut Short Over Security Concerns; Fans Pelt Stage With Bottles

This past Saturday, August 20th, a Megadeth gig in Paraguay was cut short when a barricade was broken down due to a ruckus crowd, leaving fans pissed and some fans injured from the break. Alcohol was being served in glass containers and being thrown at the stage as well.

Dave Mustaine took to Twitter to explain the situation:

“Dear Paraguay, after all three barricades broke and hundreds of fans crushed three security guards, almost killing one female fan, we regretfully had to cancel the show. Please understand that your safety is just as important as ours and after all the security went in The pit someone ran onto the stage, a bottle was thrown, and we’ll let you know as soon as we can reschedule and come back. Lo Siento This is out of our hands and we will make sure when we return to use a different venue, security and promoter. Again, Lo siento mucho.”

When a fan alerted Dave that no announcement was made by the promoter about the cancellation, Dave responded "He probably wanted to sell more beer in glass bottles that could be thrown onstage & cut up my crew"

Mustaine even offered proof of poor security measures:

Video footage of the aftermath has surfaced:

Regardless of your thoughts on Mustaine, when security is not adequate, a band cannot do their job. From the looks of the story, the blame falls onto the promoter, not Megadeth.
